A software program designed to perform a specific task or group of tasks, such as word processing, communications, or database management.

Client

A remote computer connected to a host or server computer.
LAN A local area network (LAN) is a computer network covering a local area, like a home, office or small group of buildings such as a college.
Network

A computer network is a data communications system which interconnects computer systems at various different sites. A network may be composed of any combination of LANs, or WANs.

OS

 

An operating system (sometimes abbreviated as "OS") is the program that, after being initially loaded into the computer by a boot program, manages all the other programs in a computer.

Server

A server is a computer that handles requests for data, email, file transfers, and other network services from other computers (ie, clients).

WAN Stands for Wide Area Network. A computer network that spans a relatively large geographical area. Typically, a WAN consists of two or more local-area networks (LANs).
